Mercury Props Extends Fury Line to 27-pitch

FOND DU LAC, WI. (April 24, 2009) – Mercury Propellers, the world leader in recreational boating propeller technology, has extended its line of Fury Propellers to include a 27-pitch.

Fury is cast from Mercury’s patented X7 alloy TM. According to Mercury Engineers, X7 is 30 percent stronger and four times more durable than conventional stainless steel. This strength enables Mercury Propellers to manufacture a prop with thinner blades and higher rake angles, creating a prop with unbelievable durability, holeshot and top-end speed.

In Mercury-conducted tests on a Gambler 2100 with a Mercury 250 OptiMax Pro XS, the 27-pitch Fury beat the 27-pitch Tempest Plus by 1.1 MPH and the 27-pitch Trophy Plus by 0.6 MPH on top-end speed. Getting out of the hole, the 27-pitch Fury was 0.9 seconds quicker from 0 to 20 mph compared to the 27-pitch Tempest, and 0.7 seconds quicker than the 27-pitch Trophy Plus.

“From the moment word got out about the performance of the Fury, customers have been asking us to extend the product line into new pitch ranges” said Dirk Bjornstad, brand manager for Mercury Propellers. “The new 27-pitch Fury will allow the go-fast crowd with 250 hp-plus engines and lighter boats to experience the top-end and holeshot that have made the Fury such a hit with bass anglers. It brings to life the performance of both Mercury Outboards and competitive product.”

The Fury is available in 24-, 25-, 26- and 27-inch pitches and is available to order now
